Just this week, we have seen articles telling of Chicago discontinuing use of the controversial, often deemed “racist” gunshot detection system (article here) while other cities are expanding or looking to add to their coverage (article here).
These drastic contradictions beg the question, how effective is ShotSpotter. And is it better to have something that only works part of the time, rather than nothing at all? Only time will tell, it seems.
